This is the astounding 11th release of one of our favourite cask-strength whiskies - Lagavulin 12 year old. This 2012 edition is a smoky, zesty whisky with masses of character.

Spent matches and wood smoke. A big dose of sea spray with hints of malt wine. Lemon zest, lip balm and lemonade. Fresh apple peel and salted butter.
A medium body with huge peat smoke notes. Dried grass, cocoa and coal tar. Candied lemons, pine oil and manuka honey. Barnyard notes.
Long, smoky finish with notes of treacle and Black Forest honey.

Nothing else to say. Made me love peated scotch and is still my Top 1 favorite scotch. Smokey and peated without the medicinal note. Perfect.
I didn't believe all the reviews could be correct but they are. This scotch is upfront but so smooth. Smoky but sweet, not as much iodine as other Islays. The alcohol is masked incredibly well, not too much though. The first sip will make you a believer, and a wee bit impoverished.
Quality, quality. This is a robust cask-strength that does not disappoint. Huge peat and smoke finish, a steady delivery to the taste and matured. A long,finish which is complex with bitter spices and pine. This is a bottle you take your time with.
