Kyrö Sauna Stories No.1
The world's first whisky finished in a sauna, Kyrö Sauna Stories No.1 is a 100% malted rye Finnish whisky aged in new American oak and Jamaican rum (bottled by Planteray Rum) casks, which were left to mature in a sauna. The founders of the distillery conceived the idea of Kyrö in a sauna, so this is a nice full-circle moment for the brand. It's also an intriguing idea as it's a maturation climate hotter than most natural settings can achieve like the tropical setting lots of rums age in. Kyrö achieved an internal temperature of 55 degrees Celsius to age its casks, using excess steam from the distilling process to heat the bespoke barrel sauna.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Grilled pineapple, ripe banana, and creamy vanilla, with honeysuckle, toasted rye, and a touch of treacle.
Palate
Mango and rum-soaked raisins meet dark rye bread, caramelised sugar, and charred oak, with plenty of warming spice.
Finish
Long and toasty, with white pepper, sticky tropical fruit, and lingering rye spice.
