Description

Heavily-peated single cask of Knockdhu here from indie bottlers, Hidden Spirits! The distillery uses Aberdeenshire peat, so it's full of barbecue and wood smoke (rather than the medicinal notes associated with Islay peat), and only produces peated whisky for around a quarter of the year. The particular release was distilled in 2006 and matured for 16 years, before the folks at Hidden Spirits bottled it up in 2022. A rich, toasty Speysider that'll make a great evening sipper.

Nose

Charcoal smoke and burnt herbs, with flecks of seaweed, barbecued tropical fruit, set honey, and oily citrus.

Palate

More of that smouldering smoke, flamed lemon peel, stone fruit, and nutmeg.

Finish

Cinnamon butter and lingering bonfire.
