Knappogue Castle 16 Year Old - Twin Wood Whiskey

(70cl, 40%)

Knappogue Castle 16 Year Old - Twin Wood

Knappogue 16YO Twin Wood Bottling Note

Twin Wood is a 16 year old single malt from the Knappogue Castle range, which was initially matured in bourbon barrels before being transferred over to casks seasoned with Oloroso Sherry for a finishing period. Very good value Irish whiskey, right here.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose It's plenty malty, with a good balance of vanilla and dark chocolate coming through.

Palate Oak-y spice comes to the fore on the palate, with continued nutty chocolate notes and a touch of dried fruit.

Finish the Sherry cask influence persists on the finish.

Reviews for Knappogue Castle 16 Year Old - Twin Wood
Smooth but poor
Very smooth but characterless and not a very pleasant aftertaste. I only had the 50ml minature and won't be buying anymore.

A very smooth whiskey not overpeated or sherry flavours.
The more I drink this whiskey the more I like it. Its not too challenging but very smooth. I do like it.

One of the great Irish whiskeys!
Bought a bottle to augment my everyday Knappogue 12 Year Old. This whiskey is very like Yellowspot in the mouth and nose. I serve it on special occasions to my friends who favor big whiskey flavor. While this is a 5 star whiskey for me, most of the time I'm drinking the 12 Year Old. The malt in it is more obvious. I still give it a 5 star years after first tasting it.

Love it!
Never been a whiskey drinker - but had this in a restaurant, served with a salted caramel dark chocolate brownie. F'ing delicious! Ordered a glass afterward - they even brought it with a dark chocolate truffle. Truly amazingly delicious!

Very moreish
Shame they add caramel so I won't comment on the colour. Dark gold but so what if it's artificial?

Beautiful light bouquet with strong plum, apricot and malty richness. Delightfully light palate, citrus, slightly nutty, oaky, strong sherry, good development and long finish with sherry notes coming to the fore.

Excellent value for money if you enjoy the lighter character of Irish triple distilled whiskies but want something with more body.

Great Irish Whiskey!
Very smooth!! The Sherry casks are very in the nose. Upon first taste, there are notes of cherry, vanilla, and cinnamon. It is almost up to Redbreast 12 standards. Its not there due to it not being as smooth, but its the only thing comparable, and I'll definitely be buying another bottle. Thank goodness for Sherry casks!!
