Kingsbarns Dream to Dram

The flagship single malt from Kingsbarns Distillery in the Lowlands, owned by the Wemyss family. The Dream to Dram single malt Scotch whisky was matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks from Heaven Hill Kentucky distillery and first-fill STR barriques (STR means shaved, toasted and re-charred), and was distilled in 2015. A fruity, floral expression, and an excellent introduction from Kingsbarns!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose You can really smell those first-fill bourbon casks. There’s vanilla and crème brûlée plus lots of new make character, tropical fruit, and quite pronounced alcohol.

Palate Smooth texture, sweet cereal notes, light and fruity, with some roasty coffee notes.

Finish Banana bread, of all things.

Reviews for Kingsbarns Dream to Dram
Crisp and delicious
Originally tried this at a whisky flight testing and had to get some for the house. It’s fresh, crisp and delicious with gentle sweetness and loads of depth. Reminds me a lot of classic Irish whiskey in a good way.

Potential
I wanted this as soon as I found out they were releasing it.
It sits nicely in the collection even if it's a newcomer. Very floral and some might not say it packs a punch but I like that.
Very easy to drink

Hopeful
Has promise, but a NAS at £11 more than Arran 10yo it has to deliver more...and it doesn't. That is not to say it is bad, but in my view over priced for the current quality.

Young yet promising
Great dram an exciting new comer from the lowland region that at time gets a bad press will be exciting to see what the distillery’s core expression will be but already they are onto something special

Lowland
Young: This young lowland whiskey will give many young dram a hard time. Great expectations. Good as an aperitif, even after dinner.

A great distillery in the making
What a wonderful dram, beautifully floral nose with a lasting caramel finish

The nose in particular developed so well as you make your way through the glass. Cannot wait to see what the distillery does next

Very nice dram, especially for the money
Great stuff- punches way above its price tag. Not unlike Glenmorangie Astar, tho' not as powerful. Better with a touch of water. Vanilla, touch of cafe latte, bit of pineapple there somewhere. Recommended.

Excellent dram that belies its youth
Having tasted Kingsbarns' new-make spirit on a visit in 2018, I was impressed with its surprising smoothness, and held out high hopes for the matured spirit. I'm pleased to say it more than lives up to expectations. Light, vanilla and gentle fruit on the nose; more fruit, tending towards the citrusand on the palate, with a biscuity finish.

This is only just old enough to legally call itself a Scotch Whisky, and it's already an excellent dram. Imagine how good it's going to be at 10, 15, 25 years.

Great drink
Sweet bacon flavouring hints, surprisingly heavy fruit nose, with a pleasant aroma of tea. Excellent.
