“Very similar to Teeling Single Grain, but with more wood note prominence. I agree with 'Irish bourbon' comments. Oak, caramel and fruit on the nose. Smooth palate with rich fruitcake finish. Great drink. Since I bought it for $50 AUD, it deserves 5 stars. ”

Description
Kinahan's has introduced The Kasc Project, which aims to delve into the unknown regarding whiskey making, using hybrid casks (kascs?). Each cask has been constructed from five different types of wood, including Portuguese, American, French and Hungarian oak, as well as chestnut. The result is a complex blend marrying all different types of cask. Innovative stuff from Ireland.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Juicy autumnal fruit, namely plum, alongside pear and apple crumble. Sweeter aromas of rich caramel and pineapple peek through, supported by a spicy undertone.
Palate
Somewhat syrups, with prominent charred oak, barbecued mango and more caramelised tropical fruit with a scattering of vanilla pod. Creamy fruit and nut chocolate drizzled with runny caramel.
Finish
Aromatic, Christmassy notes of nutmeg and clove, orange oil and brown sugar, with caramelised pineapple.
