An 8 year old single malt from the Glengyle distillery in Cacmpbeltown, released under the Kilkerran name and bottled at cask strength. Released at an ABV of 55.7%, this expression presents plenty of peaty notes up front with citrus and vanilla-y malt in the background.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Roasted barley and earthy smoke, with underlying orange zest sweetness.
Palate
Peaty right from the get-go, pairing well with notes of black pepper and paprika. A core of vanilla and butterscotch keeps it from getting out of hand.
Finish
A zesty hint of citrus once again finishes things off.
Needed to add another Campbeltown to the shelf, and glad I did. Love the way the smoke flavour finds its place without crowding its mates. Hard to find in the States.

A man's a man for a' that!
Hey, this whisky's a real nice tour round the tastes and scents of campbeltown if you happen to find yerself on a budget. In these tough economic times it's nice to have a go-to-bottle like this on hand at home or at the office. And this ABV happens also to be me fave of the Kilerran cask strengthers.
Yea verily this batch has guts 'n campbeltown character, unlike the last one that was flat at Gwen Pal's attempt at reversing the bits that Mommy Nature bestowed at birth. A man's a man for 'a that (wink, wink). In addition, I recommend this fantastic bottle for those who love a good strong whisky in the campbeltown style, regardless of price.
Aye, this one's a perfect vote for a metal flask on a hiking trip! It ain't no wilting violet and can hold its own against temperature changes on vacation to hotter climes. Amazing mixer in cocktails, as well!

Rhubarb pie, an amazing light and sweet smoky peat, white pepper, Apple pie, banana salt water taffy, and vanilla custard. A pastry shop in the background, and then a homemade pie crust with a ton of butter, followed by a slight note of brown sugar. Peaches and cottage cheese, mango, lemon and lime margaritas with salt on the rim, and hint of wintergreen.
P:
Sweet and sour arrival with creamy vanilla maltiness, pineapple, peanut oil, Biscuits and honey, rhubarb pie, strawberry pie, sugar cookies, and slight cinnamon. White pepper, spearmint, and lemon tea.
