Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Jura Elixir 12 Year Old to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Jura Elixir 12 Year Old Bottling Note

Elixirs are said to give life to those who need it, if fantasy fiction is to be believed. While we don't think this Isle of Jura 12 Year Old Elixir has any magical properties (in fact, we're sure of it), that doesn't stop it from being an utterly fantastic release from the island distillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Very fruity, plums, citrus, a hint of oak and spice.

Palate: The fruit continues in the mouth, with more waves of sherry, dried fruits and cinnamon.

Finish: Plums make their return for a sweet, medium finish.

Overall: It's not an elixir of life, but it's certainly lively.

3cc is not enough

I received a holiday sampler of 3cc drams of scotch. This has been one of three that has caught my attention. The other 21 advent calander Scotches did not compare.

Lovely, not lively

Much lighter on the smokey finish. Tree is being trimmed as I write this...

Lovely dram!

I will put a bottle of this on my shelf. Even my mum, who normally hates whisky, liked it! Solid nose, touch of spice, good amount of fruit, playful. On tongue it was green apples, plums, and spice -- little nutmeg and cinnamon. Finished with more fruit, lasted for just the right amount of time, left behind a pleasant warmth and didn't cause you to choke on the liquor.

Great job to the folks at Isle of Jura!

Final Note: I am doing the 2015 advent calendar. As a result, I get one drink at it to decide if I like it enough to buy more. Sometimes I need to drink something three or four times to make up my mind. Thus, my rating is based on a one-time drink experience.

A favourite of mine at 46%

I take Elixir 12 year old 46%, at 1.5 oz over ice and just smell it for awhile as the ice melts and drink at first just enough to taste the dram. I get some airplane glue smell from my youth. I was never really very good at that obligatory hobby for post war baby boomer boys but remember the acetone smell and solvent tendency to dissolve the model which my lack of motor skill made inevitable. The smell however, was not unpleasant.

This could be ethyl acetate, possibly a bias of foreshot against middle cut and feints greater than other expressions.

I have Elixir at 46% in Canada

I have a bottle just like that but at 46% alcohol and enjoy it very much. It is lively indeed.
