    Single Malt

    Jura 10 Year Old

Jura 10 Year Old was launched as part of a refreshed core range of whiskies from island distillery Jura in 2018, replacing Jura Origin. Aged in American white oak bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in oloroso sherry butts, it has the subtle smoke and sweet fruitiness you want from a Jura single malt, with an intense kick of sherried sweetness underneath.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Honeyed barley and peaches in syrup, with light wafts of fragrant wood smoke.

    Palate

Oily and subtly spicy at first, before notes of earthy vanilla pod and chocolate-covered raisins develop.

    Finish

Another touch of smoke rounds things off.

    Fabulous

Isle of Jura was the 1st single Malt I had back around 1989. This was bought for me as a birthday present and is the first time I have tried this expression (I had origin before but it didn't impress and I have not had Jura since) This is a really good dram. So intense and full of everything I could wish for. It's big, it's bold and it is fabulous! Hard to believe it's 40 abv. It seems much more. If you like sherried, if you like a whiff of smoke I think you will love this one.

    Delicious

Hints of clove oil, wonderful mild carbonised smoke on the pallet mixed with vanilla with a bitterness of coffee and a sweet nutty after taste.

    Bloody good

Excellent, especially for €23. It’s got all you want from an every day whisky, chocolate, raisins and smoke, orange and coffee if you add a teaspoon of water. Of course there are better whiskies but you’ll have to pay for them. This’ll be a staple in my cabinet for sure

    Not improved.

I bought a bottle of this fifteen years ago and was sorely disappointed. I’ve just tried the same and it still is very disappointing. All the flavour notes are there but it feels like they’ve been added as some sort of concentrate and that the whisky is a fiery, youthful one which has had this and colouring added to fool someone. That’s the only way I can describe it. Like a Highland malt but with the smoothness of a grain whisky! I shall probably pour it away.

Great taste - light introduction to peat smoke

Light vanilla and smoke on the nose. Sweet and spicy on the pallet with hints of smoke, light body and easy drinking. Finish is warm, smooth and long.
