King George V

King George V is a very special edition from Johnnie Walker, packaged beautifully and made to celebrate the Royal Warrant bestowed upon the company by the monarch. This is made with some of Johnnie Walker's rarest stocks, including Cardhu, Lochnagar and even Port Ellen.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Rich, spicy aromas with hints of Christmas pudding, brandy butter and vanilla. Slightly nutty too, with notes of ground almond and blossom.

Palate Fruity, creamy palate entry. Creamy notes of caramel, manuka honey and a hint of very refined wood smoke. Allspice and nutmeg develop.

Finish Nutty finish with a surge of salt caramel and biscuity malt.

I've been really good, can I have
King George V?

Reviews for The John Walker King George V
Outstanding
Probably one of the best Christmas presents I have been given for a very long time. This is an outstanding whisky. I’m not a great fan of peat but the blend here is just fabulous. The smoke rounds out some fabulous dark pudding, marmalade and honey characteristics that make this an extremely opulent blend. I have shared a bit with some whisky loving friends - but no more!

This Scotch is by far the single best glass of whisky that I have ever had.
My wife gave me a bottle of JWKGV as a Christmas present. I must admit, at first I was fairly upset at her for spending God knows what on this bottle, but then after mustering up the courage to open that gorgeous bottle, I had a glass. My disapproval of her purchase was quickly replaced with a reminder of why she's the best wife. This is something that I would never purchase for myself, but she would without hesitation.
This Scotch is by far the single best glass of whisky that I have ever had. If you are on the fence about purchasing a bottle, don't worry, you will not be disappointed.

It's a high level of quality... DEFINITELY, won't disappoint. Great nose and just the bottle is a conversation, on its own!!

Excellent
As a long time JW purveyor, this tasting has been a long time in the making so I finally took the plunge and am glad I did. While relatively pricey, this is a refined treat of velvet-silk which I am glad to have tasted. I will keep this bottle as long as possible. :)

Mr Walker's Opus
I had the very memorable pleasure of savouring a glass of this at a special Johnnie Walker XR21 event in mid-2016 (the XR21 was free-flow, the King George V was but one glass... generously poured, happily). I've had a lot of special whiskies over the years -- single-cask bottlings, limited editions, some 40- and 50-year-olds... but I genuinely don't think any single glass of whisky has left quite the impression on me as this one did. Rich, creamy, multidimensional, beautifully balanced -- a genuinely sublime whisky of stunning character and depth. This is a whisky to be absolutely reveled in. Eyes closed, the world blocked out. One day, I will take the plunge and lay down the cash for a bottle of King George V and never regret the purchase, though it's admittedly a significant plunge to take. You would expect a masterpiece at this price point -- and you'll get it.
