Sweet rich and deep notes with maraschino cherries, toffee caramel, vanilla, baked rhubarb crumble and a very thin whiff of smoke.
The richness continues onto the palate, which is sweet and warming, with creamy malt, oats and cereal. A spicy vanilla cinnamon dusting too with the gentle smoke again developing.
Dark chocolate with caramalised peel.
Another pleasing blend from Johnnie Walker, this is quite different from the gold label.

I bought a bottle for a friend for a special occasion and had the good luck of having a taste over ice. "Wow" incredibly smooth and delicious. No harsh "high-octane" burn here. Give it a try, I think you will like it!
Get over the false idea that "single malt" (which is almost always a blend as well) is superior to blended whisky and you will find that this is an incredible dram. I tend to be drawn to the intense Islay malts which this is not, but if your in the mood for something delicious, refined, and beautiful this will do. If you love whisky you deserve to try this if only once. Maybe you will love it maybe you will hate it (whisky is very subjective) but you deserve to try it and it deserves your effort.
