Sweet rich and deep notes with maraschino cherries, toffee caramel, vanilla, baked rhubarb crumble and a very thin whiff of smoke.
The richness continues onto the palate, which is sweet and warming, with creamy malt, oats and cereal. A spicy vanilla cinnamon dusting too with the gentle smoke again developing.
Dark chocolate with caramalised peel.
Another pleasing blend from Johnnie Walker, this is quite different from the gold label.

This is an excellent, complex and refined Whisky at a good price. I prefer it to the Chivas Regal 18 YO, which is tasty as well but a bit bitter to my taste.
This is not a bad scotch, sweet, fruity all that vanilla sorta business - but that's not the question. . The question is: Is it good? Well for the price ~$70 or less yes it's good. It does have a very harsh alcohol burn on the finish. I drank this side by side to the Glenmorangie Extremely Rare 18 and the difference was night & day. The Glenmorangie was silky smooth on the finish. Now, it does cost $30 or $40 more bucks so go figure.
I was highly disappointed by the JW gold NAS, so i didn't expect much of this one. But i was wrong, and it is a sweet delicate dram with a little hint of spice (from Mortlach i guess). It is perfect for sharing it with the family or friends. So sad it is only 40% at 46% it would be a must have ! Every malt maniacs should give a try.
This is one of my favorite stock choices when converting friends who prefer strongly single malts. Excellent blend with refined nose and palate. Longer finish would be nice. Platinum gives you a lot to talk about. A bit pricy but well worth it.
Bought for fathers day absolutely amazing my father loved it!
