Johnnie Walker Black Label 12 Year Old Reviews

Not the best

This is the first blend I’ve tried as I’ve been drinking single malts for years but the amount I’m going through I needed to find a cheaper alternative. Must say, I’m not impressed.

It’s not bad, I was just expecting a more smokey flavour and the finish just fades away after a couple of seconds after swallowing. Seeing I could get a glenlivet for about another £2. Think I’ll stick to the single malts.

Fantastic value for the money

This is a nice blend for less than £30. Even the snobs (hah!) can't get mad at you enjoying this how you like it. Put it on some ice, add a small drop of cherry coke... Do whatever makes you enjoy life that little bit more. P.S. if reading this review makes you angry, remember, the best whisky is the whisky you like, the way you like to drink it.

An excellent daily drinker

Johnnie Walker Black is an excellent expression of blended Scotch. It never tries to be anything more than it is. This is an excellent drinker and you will be hard-pressed to find anything better for the money. I can’t imagine anyone saying that it taste like bourbon because it absolutely does not. There is no remote characteristic of this whiskey that has any comparison to bourbon. I find it incredibly enjoyable and would drink it anytime.
I have compared this to every blend option available from JW and it holds its own with everything up to the blue. Well done. This is an excellent daily drinker for those not wanting to pop $70 to 100 down on a single malt.

going down

this used to be a great whisky considering the price, not anymore, down the hill... its not horrible, but if the guys up there don't change something, soon it will be.

Tastes too much like bourbon

I think it tastes more like bourbon than it does scotch. I like 12 year old Dewar’s better. But neither come close to a good single malt.

Gets worse every time. Don't buy it

A couple of weeks ago I received a bottle of "Highland Origins".
It was lovely.
So I thought that maybe, just maybe, JW had got their act together again. So I bought a std Black Label.
I wish I hadn't.
Dewar's White Label is now much better than this thin, acidic, 90% grain whisky.
I truly hope that some of the poor souls giving this modern insult five star reviews can be lucky enough to taste a vintage bottle.
Actually, that would just be cruel.

Great Performance to Price Ratio

For the price range, it is one of the smoothest and richest whiskies you can get in the market, it is full-bodied with a medium-long finish and a slight hint of smoke that doesn't overwhelm the palette but binds together sweet, spicy and creamy aromas.
