It's the third batch of Paul John Indian single malt whisky independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Once again, all of those angels are lining up for their share of some cracking whisky. Geddit? Angels' share? Because the angels' share is much greater in India due to the temperature and humidity? Geddit? You geddit.
Batch 3 is a release of 822 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
A rush of Bonfire Night aromas - particularly smoky embers and toffee apples. After a few minutes, the peat becomes ever-so-slightly coastal.
Peat isn't as pronounced as on the nose, with bourbon-y vanilla and milk chocolate taking the lead instead.
Peppery peat and squashed blackcurrants.

Sweet barley, charred wood, oak spice and … peat, smoke and even a pinch of salt! Very gently mind you, this is very surprising and incredibly subtle yet slowly growing … Bit more dry fruity than exotic to me on the palate. Feasably warming allspice and chili. Exceptionally mature and complex for the age … Must be the climate speeding up the maturation I guess. I’ll admit nearly a £100 is perhaps no bargain for a dram this age but it most definitely ensures a top quality sip.
This is simply delicious whisky. A bit of spice (chili), peat (salty), sweetness (caramel), all in perfect harmony.
