The Paul John Classic Select Cask is an unpeated single malt whisky produced by John Distilleries in Goa. It has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled without chill-filtration at cask strength.
A big, meaty nose. Stewed apples and pears, freshly-baked sponge cake, golden barley and a pinch of salt.
Lots of honey on the palate, joined by deft spicy notes of cinnamon and cracked black pepper. Glimmers of fruit and dark chocolate.
Juicy fruits and a hint of oak.
Packed with character, this expression is very exciting indeed.

Overall good Indian malt whiskey
Generally I like Paul John whisky particularly the classic and the bold the only off-putting thing is the colour of the liquid which is orange.
This one is quite good. Typical PJ row barley distillery character with honey suckles, vanilla, and tropical fruits such as papaya, musk melon and pineapple. A bit of peppery note in the finish and overall a good bourbon barrel matured whisky. More so for the price paid. The high ABV works gorgeously well.
Tuath glass showing auburn to mahogany. The nose shows moderately intense notes of carmelized red apple and hints of cooking spice. The palate shows prominent notes of the same carmelized sweet red apples with lighter hints of caramel. After 2 drops of water the nose shows more pronounced carmelized red apples with hints of caramel. The palate drinks like a fine riesling eiswein - carmelized red apple undertones but mostly a sweet green apple forwardness.
