12 year old single malt from an undisclosed distillery, released by John Crabbie & Co. as its distillery gets set up. According to the label, this is a lightly peated Island single malt, so we'll leave you to try and figure out which distillery it came from...
Intensely malty and fresh with light notes of green grass and a touch of juicy citrus.
Rich full flavour with a fabulous butter-sweet balance, followed by a touch of sweet honey and notes of grilled orange and green tea.
Long, smoky with a delicious peppery spice.

This is a deliciously soft single malt of good quality. It is definitely not for "bros" looking to show off their latest high-octane, macho purchase. I believe it will be best for two types of drinkers: those new to single malt and those who are very experienced. The most salient words to describe this dram are "soft" and "buttery". It has a sweetness to it and a hint of heather. The peat is, to my palate, practically non-existent. I have no idea what this would taste like without this hint of peat- perhaps it is a subtle but necessary seasoning, like the ever-present Latakia in G.L. Pease' blends- but it certainly shouldn't be avoided if you dislike peat. Nor in fact, bought specifically for the peat. For myself, this is a very pleasant, polite single malt which will be very welcome both to those who believe that "hard liquor" has to be harsh and also to those who are experienced enough to appreciate the very real talent that can produce something so easy-drinking and light. The mouthfeel is the key here. Bad malt barely has such a sumptuous feel without even a hint of harshness at any stage of the drinking. Add a hint of tangy lemon and you have a winner, especially for the price. I suspect this might be from the Jura distillery. I will have to buy some to compare. So many malts, so little time. ;-)

An amazing introduction to smoky whisky! Very pleasantly surprised! The smoke doesn't over power the rest of the palate which I enjoyed. Definitely worth a try!
Extremely uninteresting & bland. Almost like a blended malt. But some blended malts have more flavour.
