J.J. Corry The Hanson

The Hanson from J.J. Corry is a blended grain Irish whiskey which shows off wave upon wave of creamy vanilla, sweet fruit and subtle spice. It's built using three casks of grain whiskey from a selection of Irish distilleries, expertly blended and bottled up at 46% ABV. Impressive, approachable stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sponge cake and rum-raisin ice cream, with a good drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Palate Fresh peach and pear, another hint of floral vanilla, a slow build of soft oak spices.

Finish Chai latte, tropical fruit and honey.

Very approachable
Tasted this at a whisky festival recently and loved it - very approachable. New to Irish Whisky (coming from Scotch) and I'm a fan if they all taste like this!

Excellent
This is a great Irish sipper, pairs really well with BBQ of all things. Another great release from Corry

a lovely sipper
I'm traditionally a bourbon drink but have ventured into Irish Whiskey over the past few years. I tasted The Hanson on an online tasting and instantly fell in love with the liquid and the story. Big zesty citrus and orange notes with delicious creaminess and buttescotchy notes. This is a staple whiskey on my shelf!

Great for beginners
Sweet, light and not overwhelmingly complex. It's nice on its own and great in cocktails. This is what started me out on my whiskey appreciation journey. Slainte!

Not good
Not good. Ive tasted around 150 scotches, bourbons and irish whiskeys (malt / grain and blends) and this is probably the first one Ive truly not liked. Its very ethanolic (and at 46% ABV thats not just down to the alcohol content), more so than any actual flavour and has the most strange almost slight eggy smell on the nose . Maybe I got a bad batch, but this is one of the worst Ive tasted.

A great dram!
My first dabble into a proper Irish Whiskey. What a great one at that! Very light in both nose and taste but has depth of flavour. A couple drops of water to get it down to nearer 40 abv really opens it up.

Weirdly enough I really get ‘banana milkshake’ on the finish.
