    Jim Beam Single Barrel

Jim Beam has gone has released a Single Barrel expression of its wonderful Bourbon! As you can probably guess from the name, each bottle is drawn from a single barrel - no blending here. Less that 1% of Jim Beam barrels are selected to become Single Barrel releases! The ones that do get chosen are impressive indeed, full of deep, rich, oaky vanilla and generous caramel notes that top-notch Bourbon is known for. Decadent stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Apple pie and rye spices, with buttery corn and oaky vanilla.

    Palate

Oak char leads into creamy vanilla, brown sugar, burnt caramel and peppery spice.

    Finish

Hints of dried apricot, toasty oak and baking spices.

Jim's other side of the pillow

Jim beam is obviously a giant in the American whiskey sphere but does get tared with a certain brush amongst some aficionados. Many dismiss it for its wide popularity much like Jack Daniels, the white lable is probably to blame for that. But like JD, reach past the standard core expression and you will find some master crafted treats. The single barrels are particularly nice. Great abv, dusty warehouse muskyness, rich depth of flavour I'm guessing 8 years+ with a medium finish. Great all round sipper. M. Horrell
