    Jim Beam Double Oak

There's an old axiom that claims "Two heads are better than one". Can that theory be transferred to whiskey barrels? Jim Beam's Double Oak might answer that question. You see, they initially mature this bourbon in freshly charred American oak barrels, and then move the whiskey over to a fresh set of freshly charred American oak barrels for the second part of its maturation!

A worthy replacement for the now discontinued Jim Beam Black.

    Try in a Peach Smash:

  • 50ml Jim Beam Double Oak

  • 20ml fresh lemon juice

  • 20ml peach puree or 1/2 a muddled fresh peach

  • 15ml sugar syrup

Add the ingredients above to a shaker with cubed ice and shake hard for 4 seconds. Strain over crushed ice in a rocks glass and garnish with a sprig of mint and a lemon wedge.

  • Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Full-bodied vanilla, old oak, milk chocolate and a kick of cardamom.

    Palate

Subtly peppery/oak-y at first. Soon enough, waves and waves of vanilla ice cream bring balance to the palate. A few touches of fruity malt.

    Finish

Charred oak toastiness lingers long on the finish.

    Beautiful Bourbon

    Absolute Nectar !!!

A great tasting treat of a bourbon.

I like what I like and try not to be swayed by the mass opinion about what I ‘should’ like just based on price or reputation. I like this.. a lot! I initially found the vanilla taste too strong and sickly but now I get caramel and maple syrup with a lingering afterburner of perfect intensity. This is my weekend special treat bottle. I usually drink JB white which is nice in a bland way. That only goes to let this one shine so much more when I drink it straight. You may not like this but neither of us would be wrong. For the price it’s absolutely worth a go!

It's ok for mixing, but cheap taste.

    Very good expression, solid bourbon.

Amazing step up from the White Label. Sweet and peppery, oak bites just a bit but I haven't added any water. Good green, woody aftertaste. Defo gonna get a bottle of it (tasted it in a local pub last night).

    Solid daily drinker

Solid bourbon that isn't overly sweet. The nose is very nice, and there's a good bit of spicy pepper to go with the oaky, vanilla sweetness on the palate. The finish is decent and rather dry. There's more complexity in this than the White Label or Devil's Cut, but is by no means a premium bourbon, and it can't take any water without going completely flat. For the price point, it's a good buy and a solid daily drinker.
