Jameson Caskmates IPA

The Jameson Caskmates series continues with the IPA Edition! As with the Stout Edition, Jameson sent its used whiskey casks over the Franciscan Well brewery, where they were used to aged some IPA beer. After that, the casks made their way back to the distillery, were they were used to finish this enjoyable Irish whiskey.

Not normally a fan of Jameson, but this is excellent. Sweet yet not overbearing, smooth yet with a nice bite. Great neat.

Decent
Citrus and oak on the nose. Easygoing delivery. Finish is a bit short but pretty clean. Decent enough but not one I would seek out.

Better than you think
This is a good alternative for those unwilling to drink blended Scotch anymore. Easy-drinking, great mouthful and a hint of tang to go with the cream. Zero finish but at this price, that's fine.

Last week I was appalled to find that Ballantine's 17 year old has been utterly ruined, now resembling Red Label more than the original, scrumptious dram. Today, I rejected Black Grouse because I no longer trust Scottish blended whisky. This breaks my heart to say but it is true. So I bought this Jameson's, more in despair than hope.
It is quite surprisingly good. Rich, smooth and well-balanced. Not much of an aftertaste but for the price it is ridiculously good. This cost about 1/3 of the price of the Ballantine's 17 and yet it is better.
How low has Scotland fallen for this to be the case?

Wow this is smooth.
The quality of Jamison has skyrocketed over the past 15 years. This is so smooth it is shocking. This is probably underpriced due to how new it is. It’s just too good to be priced like this.
