Independently bottled rye whiskey from James E. Pepper, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. The first three batches from this series have each seen the whiskey finished in different types of cask - this one was finished in Oloroso casks (as pointed out by James E. Pepper owner Amir Peay on the label).
Batch 1 is a release of 1,622 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Red cola cubes, sticky toffee pudding made with dates and blood orange rind lead with creamy vanilla and cacao in support. Plenty of dusty oak spice is present throughout.
Palate
Rich dark chocolate, vanilla pod sweetness and aromatic warmth from clove and cinnamon come through first, with lots of chewy rye notes and caramel in support.
Finish
Red fruit and rye spice linger.
Overall
A really wonderful rye from James E. Pepper.
