Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky

Black & White Blended Whisky is a classic old blend of some of the finest whiskies in Scotland, with a high proportion of quality grain whisky. None other than Dean Martin was said to be particularly fond of Black & White.

Creator James Buchanan apparently got the idea for the brand on his way home from a dog-show, and in the 1890s, The Scottie and Westie on the label were added, and became iconic symbols.

    Looking forward to a taste

Well I’ve never tasted it but my dads old friend Reg from the old country always drank it with water. Would like to get a bottle in British Columbia Canada but cannot seem to find one.

I am extremely glad I bought this

I bought this on a whim. Something about the label reminded me of Hogmanays past or some such which. Anyway. the moment it hit my nose I was transported back in time. I assume my grandad or a beloved relative used to drink this when I was little. Closing my eyes and taking in the bouquet I could almost smell the coal fire and the old "Palladin" lamp my grandparents had for power cuts. The whisky itself is sweet, with a generous amount of a hidden gem: whether old grain or young single malt. This is very good stuff in a style that has fallen out of favour; think Whyte & Mackay but much much better, much less harsh, with a surprisingly long finish. To our transatlantic and Southern visitors, I recommend this as a classic working man's blended whisky, from a time long gone.
