Islay Storm
C.S. James and Sons Ltd.

An Islay single malt from a secret distillery, Islay Storm has loads of peaty character.
Peat smoke, oily, briny, some malt.
Sweet rush initially, then onto medicinal peat and seaweed, some bourbon notes, spices, custard.
Smoke, long and spiced.

Luckily I only got a taster set including Islay Storm, apparently from a ‘secret’ distillery, sold mostly in USA and France. Much too powerful for me, tasting like a hospital operating theatre after a fire! I hope my bottle of Laphroaig isn’t as strong.
The peat and smoke were a little much for me, almost as if the distiller had added a little liquid smoke. Then I blended it 50/50 with Trader Joes Blended Scotch Whiskey and...wow. What a difference! Rather than the harsher mix that I expected, it smooths out very nicely and finishes with a calm peaty warmth rather than a smokey aftertaste.
Love the peat, spice and smoke elements, with a nice finish. Seems well made for the price.
Nice taste, not as much of a “bite” as I would like
Love it. Smokey Taste stays in my he mouth long time.
