Turns on a Daim 1988 (bottled 2019) - Wemyss Malts (Invergordon)
A mighty single grain Scotch right here, distilled at Invergordon in 1988 and matured for a generous 31 years in a single cask. When the folks at indie bottler Wemyss Malts cracked the cask open in 2019, it released a total outturn of 493 bottles at an ABV of 53.7%. Presumably the name is referring to the delicious toffee, almond, and chocolate treat from Sweden, and we appreciate that.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Buttery flapjack, sweet syrup, and bitter chocolate sit comfortably beside rich, oily nuts and sherried fruits.
Palate
Resinous oak and creamy grain, mixed nut granola with a roasty touch of coffee and maple syrup.
Finish
Still plenty of butter and grain going on, mellow spice, chocolate nuts, some citrus zest, and candied ginger.
