Old single grain is wonderful stuff, and the Thompson Bros. have got their hands on a rather excellent example from the Invergordon Distillery! This one was distilled all the way back in 1972 and left to age for 48 years before being independently bottled up by the team behind the Dornoch Distillery. Just 260 bottles were produced, each with a fairly stern-looking eagle on the label.
Dusty oak furniture, caramel, cola bottle sweeties, subtle hints of baked earth spiciness.
Maple syrup, Victoria sponge cake, melted butter, caraway, black pepper, lemon meringue, a touch of floral grain.
Cedar, cinnamon, waxy orange and potpourri.
