Well-matured single grain Scotch whisky produced at the Invergordon Distillery and independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. This one, the 19th batch of Invergordon bottled by the Boutique-y bunch, was allowed to rest for an impressive 45 years. Batch 19 is a release of 430 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Werther’s Original, maple syrup and plenty of estery fruit initially, followed by sumptuous creamed corn, vanilla essence, almond butter and coconut oil. Underneath there’s milk chocolate, Madeira cake, just a hint of mixed herbs and a note reminiscent of tangerine marmalade on thick white bloomer bread. It then keeps going with touches of fresh linen, ginger biscuits, sweet tobacco and peppermint tea.
Vanilla fudge, ripe pears, warm golden syrup and some praline, then coconut flakes, salted popcorn and a twist of black pepper. Orange peel, a slightly herbal note of green tea with honey and an underlying chardonnay note and slight metallic element add depth.
Malted milk biscuits, some woodiness and an aromatic touch of lemongrass.
