Invergordon 44 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
Yet another incredible indie Invergordon, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Matured for 44 years, this single grain whisky boasts heaps of spice, oak and caramel notes. What the label doesn't boast is an accurate representation of a Coffey still.
Batch 18 is a release of 305 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Through an unmistakable dusty oak note comes black cherry tobacco, pecan and fruity red apple. Caramel and dark chocolate bitterness are balanced by coffee icing, damson jam and caraway, with a touch of demerara sugar underneath.
Palate
Rich black fruit compote, a sweet earthiness and more dusty antique wood forms the core. From there comes suggestions of herbal spices and Bloody Mary mix bound up in leather. Vanilla and a bitter nuttiness from roasted chestnuts emerge with time.
Finish
Slightly meaty, almost corn beef notes linger in a dry and sadly short finish.
Overall
An excellent balance of flavour and an understated elegance makes this one to savour from Invergordon.
