Nose Aromas of rancio, oily walnuts and rosemary honey seep through dusty oak and wood polish. There’s a suggestion of toast dripping with butter.
Palate Plenty of rich and nutty oloroso goodness, dried apricots, meaty dates and a little blackcurrant. The fruity opening is complemented by the gentle sweetness of spicy muscovado sugar and thick, black treacle. Cashew nuts keep oaky tannins company in the backdrop.
Finish The dusty oak persists with help from tobacco leaves and juicy prunes.
Overall Devilishly dark and brooding, somehow both understated and a powerhouse. Wow.
