Gordon & MacPhail
Scotland
Single Malt
Independently bottled Inchgower single malt, which was distilled by the Speyside-based distillery in 2005 and bottled by the excellent Gordon & MacPhail in 2016 as part of the long-running Connoisseurs Choice range.
Fruitcake with thick icing, hints of chopped ginger and almonds.
Chocolate-y at first, with more dense fruitcake notes.
Spicy cinnamon and cardamom. A lasting hint of citrus oil.
Glad to see many of G&M offerings are 46% unchillfiltered. It makes such a difference to the taste and mouth-feel. The previous inchgower I had was the Flora and fauna version, which I loved for the dry, spicy saltiness of the finish. This bottling has more of a sherry style Speyside (speaking broadly) with not so much coastal influence but a very characterful whisky indeed.
