Inchgower 36 Year Old 1974 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

A single cask Inchgower aged for a whopping 36 years in a refill hogshead! This was distilled on the 16th September 1974 and bottled on the 9th June 2011. Absolutely stunning and cracking value for money! (If we do say so ourselves!)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Huge notes of prunes and apricots, with sour apple drop sweets and barley malt. A tangy, fruity nose with more than a suggestion of almond too. It develops and becomes more and more like a toffee apple, with nutmeg and clove-studded oranges.

    Palate

Honey on hot buttered toast, warm cinnamon bagels and apple skins. It becomes more almond-like, almost like chewing on apple pips, and there’s just a dusting of confectioner’s sugar too.

    Finish

Tangy and rich, buttery too. Plenty of bourbon too; charred barrels, vanilla, coffee beans…

    Overall

Big, fruity and very thick whisky. A lovely winter-warmer!

    A perfect malt

Very complex fruits and a little lavender on the nose. I get the sour apple sweets! Honey, cinammon, what must be the confectioner's sugar reminded me of pink custard from school dinners! Buttery, vanilla (masses of vanilla) and toffee too. Getting something new with every sip, including many my palate is not mature enough to recognise. Wish I had another bottle!
