Description
Illuminate is a 12-year-old single malt that shines a spotlight on the Speyside region of Scotland. The whisky spent part of its dozen-year maturation in a selection of incredibly active first-fill oloroso sherry casks, which ought to make the eyes light up for all the sherry fiends out there! It's packed full of rich festive spice and dense old oak, with a sweet, nutty profile that's handily marked out in the spider-diagram tasting chart on the label.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich, sweet oak and sticky toffee pudding, honeyed dates, and boozy sultanas. Candied nuts and sherry spice are joined by tangy goji berries and distant vanilla cream.
Palate
Christmas cake spice is carried by drying, leathery oak. There are notes of mocha and candied pecans, juicy prunes, and buttery cinnamon pastries.
Finish
Werther's Originals and candied orange peels join the sweet spices for the finish, all wrapped up with sprinkles of cacao and drying, woody cigar box.
