Macleod's Speyside Bottling Note

An excellent single malt from an undisclosed Speyside distillery and bottled by Ian Macleod. It serves as a great introduction to the region, capturing the elegant, refined features Speyside is known for. Plenty of Sherried goodness up front on the nose, which develops into subtle smoke, golden barley and sultanas on the palate, leading to a drying, floral finish.

Mellow and gorgeous!

Acceptable, but average.

Oak, honey and botanicals for me. Botanicals especially on the finish. I'm not an expert on sherry and I might have mistaken the sultanas for honey, but I'll definitely stand by the oak. the sweet finish lasts long and the after heat is a pleasant sensation. The nose doesn't really presage the taste, but neither is unpleasant. Overall an acceptable dram, but not an outstanding drink. I feel the price reflects the quality. There is at least one better entry in this brand's repertoire.

A well rounded whiskey

Sweet creaminess on the nose, followed by spices and vanilla, with a smokey subtle finish.
A well rounded whiskey.
