An 8 year old, cask strength single malt from an unnamed Islay distillery. This has been left at cask strength, non chill-filtered so Ian Macleod bottle it "as they got it"…
Cloves crash into the sinuses first followed by the gentle caress of toffee which in turn is followed by a sweet peatiness that warns of the storm to come.
Spicy with strong peat, then there is a touch of medicinal orange rolls over the palate.
Coal smoke at first, a pleasing bitterness then emerges, with a long nutty conclusion.
This dram has flavours that intrigue, ones that assaulted and others that soothed. Great stuff indeed!
