Holyrood Embra

The second release of Holyrood single malt and the Edinburgh distillery's first release of peated whisky, this is Embra. It was aged in a combination of casks, predominately first-fill bourbon, some from peated quarter casks from Islay, as well as a small portion of virgin American oak. The interesting label design was based on a linocut inspired by images of St Leonard, the patron saint of barrel makers and also the distillery's location. See those hints of smoke coming from the hand? They imply ‘gifting’ or ‘releasing’. Maybe you should gift this whisky to someone deserving. Like yourself.

Reviews for Holyrood Embra
Okay but very pricey for a 3 year old
I have been following the Holyrood project for the last few years and really liked the first release, Arrival. Unfortunately this isn’t as good and although I can see what they are doing with the entry to peat whisky flavours, it feels rushed and over priced. Tastes okay but probably only worth £30-£40
