Highland Park Fire 15yo

Completing this two-part series, which also included Highland Park Ice Edition, is the Highland Park Fire Edition! Celebrating Muspelheim, the glowing Norse fire realm of destruction, this 15 year old single malt was matured in refill Port casks before being bottled at 45.2% abv. It's presented in a cradle shaped like a mountain (or is it a volcano this time?).

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose This doesn’t shout at you, instead the smoke is discreet backed up with some tasteful saline and red cherry notes.

Palate All about elegance, some delicate wood smoke with fresh orange fruity notes and some caramel.

Finish Long and gently smoky.

Reviews for Highland Park Fire Edition 15 Year Old
perfectly balanced
Hands down one of the best whiskies I've ever tasted. Perfectly round and balanced. A touch of smoke and a complexity that you can enjoy for a long time. If it wasn't for the price this would be my go-to whisky.

Great Whisky!
Got it as a birthday present last year and still savour it small bit at a time. Very rich, multi-layered and complex whisky, with smoke, fruits and spicyness in perfect balance. It is pricy, but 100% worth it. Will definitely grab another one.

P.S. Please don't listen to moaners, who complain about packaging and price. Packaging and marketing has nothing to do with it. If you like it - bonus. If you don't - it's not the shape of the bottle or decorative frame that you are going to taste, now is it? :)

I think it is the RED BOTTLE
There is nothing wrong with the Whisky, but it has gone down in price because I think Highland Park released the Ice and Fire too soon after the Valhalla collection hoping the prices would get people buying these 2. Highland Park Thor/Loki/Freya/Odin were very good sellers and the taste matched the price.
I think the Ice might go on to be like the Valhalla Collection but it is being hindered by the FIRE.....

A bit quirky for a Highland Park
A different Highland Park that doesn’t quite hit the mark. Light smoke, salt & cherries on the nose. More characteristic on the palate - fruity and oily. Long smokey, peppery finish with a dollop of milk chocolate. Overpriced/overdesigned, okay but there are much better bottling.

A fine whisky in a extravagant bottle.
It is always a problem when anyone can make a review...

I have a bottle of this (and ice). Is it good? Yes. Very good. Is it worth the price tag? That all depends. To some no, to me yes. And I know the packaging is a bit much for some, but the simple fact is it doesn't make the whisky worse. It is there so it would stand out in line of whisky. And it certainly achives that goal. I personally like it. I like the fact it doesn't look like a bottle of whisky.

Ok, what about the whisky, I hear you ask. The whisky itself is shoulders above the highland park 18. And I like the 18. This has much more depth, spicyness, vanilla. It is at least as good as the 21 year old. It is not cask strenght for a reason: This is not finished in ex bourbon cask, it spent the entire 15 years in it, and if they left it cask strenght the bourbon flavour I think would be too much. Maybe it could be a little higher, but I recently had it in a tasting along other HP, some much pricier, some higher percentage, and it held it's ground quite nicely.

Special drink for special occasions
Fantastically balanced drink full of flavour. A spicier version of the 18. Ignore the usual Reddit trolls below.

OOH its red and costs a lot - whats not to like?
£194 (plus free delivery) for a 15 YEAR OLD bottle of whisky, port cask finished, not even cask strength.

But it does come with massive marketing and a tacky red bottle. Note how the blurb focusses on the marketing 'story' - which is bollox quite frankly. Go on, rush out and buy it.
