Single Malt
Scotland

An 8 year old Highland Park, bottled by Gordon and MacPhail for the MacPhail's collection. It matured in Sherry butts and bourbon barrels. Orkney whisky ahoy!
Toasted barley, slightly tart mango and vanilla.
A creamy dram, rich with red apples, nuts and a whiff of smoke.
Rather short.
Classic Highland Park. We wouldn't say no.

Smells ripe mango and light smoky, banana on the tail end and caramel. Taste is ripe fruit, black pepper, smoky peaty character and it fades to a resilient black pepper. Damn. Stone fruit and the sherry shines here. It's fantastic.
A very nice "young" peated whisky I don't taste the sherry mentioned in the description but still an excellent dram. But if you're looking for the highland park 12 flavor look elsewhere. This is closer to Ardbeg 10 or Lagavulin 8.
I can't find the smoke, but the nose is peppery and vibrant. The palate is a little bit harsh, but no different from what can be expected - the price tag taken into consideration. The finish is long and lingering on the tongue, although the harsh palate sticks as well on the back of the mouth. Overall a good dram for the money.
This HP is not amazingly complex but offers great value for money for a mid week dram. Touches of smoke, green fruit and honey all with a bit of saltiness to it.
Not my style too smoky, taste like BBQ ribs.
