A rare 30 year old whisky bottled by Samaroli Merchants and Bottlers to mark their 30th anniversary, under the supervision of Silvano S. Samaroli himself. Silvano has been selecting casks for bottling since 1968 and was certainly the only person outside of Britain doing so back then!
This bottle is labelled as a pure malt, which suggests it may have been 'spooned' (a process whereby an extremely small amount of another single malt is added to stop the resulting whisky being sold as a single malt) but this whisky was distilled at the Highland Park distillery (also on the label) in 1968. It was aged for 30 years in cask 11169 before an outturn of 296 was bottled in 1998.
Amusingly, James Grant is referred to as James Grand on the back label, perhaps this makes it even more collectible?
