Ever tried a perfect whisky? Well this could be your chance! This bottling of 25 year old Highland Park single malt is made with whisky taken from ex-sherry and bourbon casks and bottled at 45.7% abv, slightly lower than previous 25 year old expressions from the Orkney distillery. It was awarded 100 points out of 100 at the 2013 Ultimate Spirits Challenge in New York; a perfect score!
Nose: Soft, plump cherries, toasted walnut, crumbly pastry and brown sugar.
Palate: Stewed fruits, sweet vanilla and some classic Orkney peat. A hint of spiciness, not too much though.
Finish: Sweet, long and delicious.
Overall: This really is a fantastic single malt from Highland Park, tonnes of flavour but balanced admirably.

When I tasted the HP 18, I knew that I had come upon something special. The complex flavors of the HP 18 reeled me in, to the extent that I could not resist venturing into the 25. It is truly an exceptional whisky. As we speak it resides in the pantheon of only two or three others like Talisker 25, and Macallan 25. It is well worth the investment. The first sensory experience is the incredible nose. You can't believe that you can gain so much pleasure from simply smelling it. Pause and take in the vanilla, the perfect subtle smoke, and the various other indescribable smells. When tasting, the initial mouthfeel is smooth as silk. Most other whiskies will punish you at the tongue or the throat upon swallowing, this one does not. That is not to say that it is tame. You get an extreme, full bodied, long taste, but without a big burn. The smell, the feel, the taste is absolutely superb. This is close to the perfect dram. I can't wait until I delve into it again.

So amazing. Just heaven.

I completely agree. I have the 30yr because MoM was out of 25yr briefly. Not nearly the perfection or the 25. I bought 2 of these for my going away party when i left my last job. We went back and bought 2 more the same evening. I have 2 at home from MoM as I may have found my absolute favorite.

Christmas in a bottle, one of the best nosing whiskeys available and incredible taste and mouth feel. This whiskey has it all.

Now I understand how this fine dram got 100 points. From nose, to palate, to finish, there isn't a step that you don't feel like it should last forever.

Gold in a glas, satisfaction for me...Full-bodied, warm, intense but well-balanced. Sweet, soft peat and then a long finish with notes of spicy oak.Not speechless, but its somewhere between 90 and 100 points. Ok... 94.

I wrote the 7th may '14 review and bought this bottle in Jan/Feb '14 at £188. Now it's £275 and HP's own shop clocks it at £335! Edrington's gone crazy and this milking of customers is a disgrace. Great whisky but I work for a living guys.

liquid gold words can't describe the delicious and subtle hints of flavor, if you are blessed to acquire this bottle you will savor each glass as if it were the last on earth.

Hp25 2012 is a good thing, don't let anyone tell you any different. Old wood tones, a kiss of sherry, great floral peat and a dash of allspice. Other things too, all in a well balanced package. Despite 45,7% this actually seems to benefit from a ½ to a full teaspoon of water to open the aftertaste up properly. Very nice all in all, but in truth Lord I have sinned and lain with the Jezebel that is HP25 2006, and her sherry-soaked lips invade my dreams as I recall our bacchian embrace. She is a shameless, salacious temptress amply bestowed with everything that would drive any living thing mad, and in my shame it is her I think of even as I taste the 2012 on my lips.
