Highland Park 1976 (bottled 2011) - Orcadian Vintage Series
Highland Park's Orcadian Vintage Series continues with this impressive 1976 vintage single malt! It was drawn from a combination of 13 refill butt and hogshead casks, yielding an outturn of 893 bottles at 49.1% ABV in 2011. A unique, delicate and fruity whisky from the Orkney distillery, with tropical fruit balancing the hallmark floral honey and peat smoke that we know and love.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
Light, fresh fruit such as melon and mango, freshly cut resinous wood. A wonderful butter hint, then the classic heather sweet note.
Palate
Very floral to start, reminiscent of the heather fields of Hobbister moor in bloom, marzipan and coconut, ending in honey coated almond.
Finish
Lingering notion of balance between wood and cream; smooth violet softens the finish.
