The second release in a series from Highland Park, following on from The Dark. While The Dark was drawn from European oak Sherry-seasoned casks, The Light has been drawn from refill American oak casks - resulting in a brighter hue and a flavour profile to match.

Vibrant citrus notes up front, before a wave of green apple and sawdust notes arrive.
Tangy mango, pear drops, vanilla-rich malt, a subtle hint of smoke (but not much!), pink peppercorn.
Resinous oak and waxy peels, with a touch of forest floor earthiness.
A real dark (or should I say light) horse. It's really quite an extraordinary whisky.
This is certainly an expensive bottle and although it is beautifully presented my initial thoughts were that this was another of the bizarre Highland Park offerings and probably overpriced. However, I was definitely wrong as I was fortunate enough to taste quite a bit of this at a whisky show last year. It's an absolutely stunning whisky which outshone everything else at the show and is up there with the best whiskies I have ever tried. I highly recommend this as one of the great Highland Park whiskies and have since purchased a couple of bottles.
