Duncan Taylor's The Octave range grows larger (despite the casks being rather small indeed). This is a 12 year old single malt from Orkney's Highland Park distillery, independently bottled by Duncan Taylor after a finishing period of 3 months in a tiny octave cask. Only 78 bottles were produced.
Toffee, red berry, oatcake and a hint of smoked ham.
Buttery on the palate, with savoury notes coming to the fore. A light sweetness of custard tart and nutmeg lingers in the background.
A hearty waft of familiar heather-y smoke appears right on the end.
