I have to admit that I am a relative beginner at whisk(e)y tasting, but this is imo by far my favorite whiskey of all the ones I have had so far. The wood and the rum finish really stand out. Much vanilla. ?????
There indeed has been an Irish Whiskey revival. This is one of those excellent examples of what can be done, others include Teeling Single Malt, Yellow Dot, etc This is a smooth dram with exotic fruits undertones. Very enjoyable.
Terrific mix of flavours on the palate, fairly smooth. Easy to drink. short but wonderful after taste. This is at least as good as the 12 yr Balvenie Rum cask in my opinion.
