Bourbon

An intriguing release from newly-launched independent bottler, Copper Monument. This is an 8 year old bourbon, distilled by Heaven Hill in 2009 and matured in a single cask until 2017, when it was bottled at full-on cask strength. Indie bourbons are not common at all, so we expect this to pique the interest of many whiskey enthusiasts.
Fried banana and vanilla ice-cream, with a whack of allspice for good measure.
Dark chocolate bitterness balanced by intense caramel sweetness. A touch of corn gives it a savoury note.
Peppery and very warming.

I have to say that i rather enjoyed this bottling. Even at cask strength i didn't find it difficult to access aromas and flavours, which i found plenty of too. An independently bottled single cask Bourbon, very nice indeed. Mick - The whiskey chaps
Eh. Really, really disappointing sadly. The lack of complexity is confusing. Is it the strength and burn? No, unfortunately the addition of water doesn’t bring more to the fore than the strangely subdued vanilla, with lack of sweetness. The pepper on the tongue combined with the fire from the barrel strength burns away other notes; one dimensional and bland, like single note being held on a tuba. No higher, elegant spices, a lack of interest, Absence of balance. Ended up using it as a mixer. Ho hum.
