A 12-year-old malt whisky from Hatozaki, this interesting Japanese bottling was initially matured in American oak casks, before being finished for six months in barrels that previously held Umeshu liqueur, arguably the most iconic fruit liqueur made in the country using a native variety of small plums called ume.
Floral honey, creamy vanilla, and lots of fresh orchard fruit.
Through cherry blossom and lavendar comes lychee, dried apricot, sweet peaches in cream, and toffee.
Violets and vanilla linger.
$34.50 - $69.43
What a mellow smooth light whisky, easy drinking and full of character at the same time! 12 year age statement and in my opinion it's such an understated whisky, especially for the price too.
I was impressed with it being age stated Japanese whisky, natural colour and non chill filtered. and a reasonable price
