Hankey Bannister Bottling Note

A blended whisky named for Mr Hankey and Mr Bannister who created the brand. That's right, he was called Mr Hankey…

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite light, yet rather punchy. There are notes of winter spice and black pepper with a touch of caramel. The palate is quite fresh and crisp with medium-body. There are notes of buttery biscuit and toffee fudge with cereal sweetness and a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is of good length with a fudge sweetness.

Hankey Bannister Blended Scotch Whisky Reviews

Best by far n smoothest 💕

Hanky Banister has to be the smoothest tasting whisky ever Its my favor of all whiskies💕

Makes a strong looking( and tasting) drink. Buy some!!!

I used to drink this whisky when I lived in Bermuda. The bartender used different blends for different mixers and this mixed with ginger ale made a superb combination.I still sometimes buy it from my local suppliers in Cupar, Fife and I will be buying some this week for a men's week in Lochinver.

Very nice.

Tried in a pub in Yorkshire. 6 quid for doubles of this. Was expecting paint thinner, but was amazed how nice this was. Less than 20 quid a bottle is great value. Buttery toffee as the description above, really rather pleasant.

I would highly recommend this blend and give it a try and you will come back for more.

Hi i got a bottle of this blend from the balblair distillery in edderton just up the road from where i live i always get a bottle of balblair 99 and bought this as the name intrigued me lol and never seen it before.
This is now my tipple with friends and i keep the 99 for myself and the wife.

Third best whiskey in northern New Jersey

This stuff's not bad and definitely a notch above for a whiskey in the Dewar's/JW Red price range. Fudge and butterscotch, so sweet it's almost a bourbon. Good value

Not bad at all

Great price. Very smooth. A keeper!

Its quite impressive considering its price! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite smooth. Definitely a keeper!

A wonderful blend that smells of sweet freshness.

A wonderful blended whisky with a beautiful marriage between sweet malt and grain whiskies. The nose is profoundly sweet - creamy vanilla, honey, fresh citrus, ripe pears. The taste is also sweet and mellow - again honey, vanilla, sweet pears. This is pretty much it, with Hankey Bannister Original what you nose is what you taste. And it's lovely.

Great on flights

This whiskey is served on international Thai Airways flights in Economy, which is not the ideal place to enjoy a whiskey. However, it's a pretty decent, fairly smooth offering, which will possibly taste even better, 10,000 metres closer to the ground

great whiskey

I prefer it to some more more expensive malts, good value for money, I buy it the litre size

2nd May 2018

Great value for money

This is a very good, smooth, rather sweet blended whiskey. I can't think of another whiskey that's this inexpensive and good. If you like Johnnie Walker Black Label, you might enjoy this, it's half the price (although it's not smoky at all).

Simply great

By far the best whiskey I've had in this price class. Astonishingly good! Just to bad it's not available in Sweden...

Blends of Thrones

Reluctantly tasted it first during a Burn's Night, and I wasn't impressed until the Haggis blessed our plates.
Truth is, the Great chieftain o the puddin' race allowed the humble spirit to rise above it's condition and speak better for itself!
A rather decent dram to be considered equally by posh educated palates or any wanky Lannister.

Scottish whiskey

Love this whiskey it's smooth tastes lovely

2nd February 2016

Schottischer Whisky???

Has become my favourite blended whisky

Amazingly I first came across this gem of a whisky in a corner shop in Northern Cyprus,in fact it is easier to come by there than here in theU.K. It is also cheaper there than here!

1st April 2015

Bargain price

Brought a bottle home from Cyprus. I was curious of the name as I had never heard of it before. Pleasant taste and a bargain at £8 but boy doesn't half give me a hangover.

8th February 2015

Punches above its weighr class

For what it is, a cheap blend, I find Hankey Bannister quite acceptable.

2nd February 2015

Whiskey... or tequila?

I got a headache immediately after pouring myself a glass due to the strong scent of cheap tequila. The taste, on the other hand, is quite enjoyable. None-the-less I will definitely not buy another bottle.

23rd October 2014

mr thomas ???

this is blended , not single malt , not even blended single malt BUT blended !!!!!!!

8th August 2014

not impressed but for the price i wont turn my back

i always drink whiskies straight. but this one goes down pretty hard. not very smooth. but i bought 1.75L bottle for $27 including tax. its no chivas but it will probably be good for cocktails. i think i will stick to my american connections. #bourbons. ;)

Hankey Bannister - 3rd Best Whiskey in northern Burma.

25th March 2014

Use the internet!

Can't believe some of the 'reviews' here. 'Glen' - Scotch doesn't immprove in the bottle! Only in the cask! HB can hardly be found in Scotland. We have better taste! Get yoursleves some single malts, or a decent blend like Black Bottle or BNJ!

Alan of Airdrie

This is blended and bottled in my home town alongside Pinwhinnie and other fine whiskies. try it you might just be surprised.

My father-in-law just past. In his dresser drawer, we found a bottle of Hankey Bannister, Scotch Whisky a Blend, which he purchased on August 15, 1945, just before he came back to US. Can't wait to try it. 70 year old scotch has to be good.

25th February 2014

Black out

my friend drank a bottle of this on our ski trip. he enjoyed the taste and it put him into a state of bobble headedness. he contained to moan the ought his blacked out sleep and woke up with the most terrible hangover.

25th February 2014

Found a new whisky

I went to Binny's to buy a bottle of Laphroaig as a gift, and to select something less fine for myself. I had never seen Hankey Bannister nor heard of it, but the funny name intrigued me, so I bought it. It's quite good. My cheap Scotch of choice had usually been Clan MacGregor, but I may stick with Hankey for awhile. Greg, Chicago, Nov, 24, 2013

I was very surprised when I tried this tipple, recommend to anyone

24th November 2013

good cheap whisky

Before I tried this one I only drank whiskey rarely and only single malts, but Hankey Bannister made me ralize that I can really enjoy cheaper blends as well. Nice balance between sweetness and harshness, not too alcoholic on the nose, pleasant aftertaste, imo, better then many famous and widespread brands.
