Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

A light, buttery nose with hints of barley, toasty oak, plum wine and spice.

Palate

Custard apples and toffee on the palate, with hints of grist, honeycomb and beeswax. All rather floral too.

Finish

Good, zesty finish with toasty barley clinging 'til the very last.

Offers next to nothing

Had a few bottles of Grant's over the years, but they were all gifts. I never actually paid for a bottle myself, nor is it likely I ever will, because it is a very forgettable dram. I'll rather pay twice as much for something else, knowing it will be 20 times better tasting.

You get what you pay for...

It was on offer for £10, and having not tried it before I couldn't resist. It's harsh and a little bitter, I can't really pick out any pleasant flavours. As far as cheapo blended whiskey goes, I much prefer Whyte and Mackay's which is normally a similar price.

Good god you are all overrating what is a decent whisky for the price, but seriously...

It's cheap, so expect nothing THAT good. What I do like about it is that while being cheap it avoids that spoiled young taste that so many in it's price range have. All of the flavors are light and thin, but there are at least a range of them, even a bit of skunky peat smoke in there, which gives it something interesting. In general it is a bland, but not bad scotch. Where I live it can be had for 10 dollars less than Johnny Walker Red Label, and it is far more pleasant.
