A blended whisky from William Grant & Sons, finished in oloroso sherry casks. Lovely balance.
The nose is quite light and fruity. There are notes of nut oils and mixed peels, hints of honey and a little oaken note. The palate is of medium-body and quite well-balanced. There are notes of sherried peels and sultanas, winter fruitcake with spice and developing oak. The finish is nutty and long with dried fruit notes.
For £10, this is amazing. A great everyday dram for those that want something sherried but can't afford to drink Macallan, GlenDronach or any of the others everyday.
Having just recently started trying various malts, Balvenie 12 year double wood, Aberlour Malt and the beautiful Knockando 12 year old Malt , this was a real surprise for being a non malt and a sort of just of the shelf whiskey. Very warm and enjoyable neat or with a sprinkle of water. As said in the other review I purchased this on offer at £12.89 for 70cl, which considering the taste is provides is astonishing value. Will for certain purchase this again.
I keep coming back to this one. Its a lowly blend - I can hear all the pure malt drinkers saying.... Much as I like the single malts, this is a superb every day blend that really hits the spot for me. It even seems to come on special offer in many places at seriously cheap prices. If you've not tried it yet, I think both you and your wallet will quite enjoy it.
Nice through th nose light n fruity with a slight blended smell If that makes sence All the taste of grants which is my favourite blend of whisky though has sweetness because of the sherry cask with fruity notes, take it through the middle of the mouth for the best flavour. All in all good whisky for a blend 6/10 not a malt so don't expect perfection!!
