Berry Bros. & Rudd’s Odyssey Range highlights distilleries and spirit styles gaining fresh appreciation, and Ruadh Mhor is a perfect example. Produced at Glenturret, this heavily peated malt was once destined mainly for blends but has increasingly earned recognition as a compelling single malt in its own right.
Distilled in 2011, this peated Highland single malt matured for 14 years before bottling at 60.6% ABV from cask #284. A total of 282 bottles were released.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Earthy peat, damp bracken, scorched herbs, apple skin, and roasted meat.
Palate
Charcoal smoke, singed twigs, malt sweetness, and floral honey.
Finish
Lingering smoke, sweet barley, and warming earthy spice.
