Glentauchers 2011 #900364

This is a Whisky Illuminati bottling of well-sherried single malt from the Glentauchers Distillery, matured in a single first-fill Spanish oak sherry butt from 2011 to 2018. After maturation, it was bottled at cask strength (an imposing 63.4% ABV) as part of the Solaria Series, which is dedicated to powerfully sherried drams - and a continuing series of releases...

These whiskies come from a single cask, but not all the whisky has been bottled. The rest of the whisky has returned to slumber in its sherry butt, to be bottled after two more years of rest. But again, that will only be a portion of the whisky, as the remaining liquid will once again enjoy further rest until finally being bottled. Get involved with the Solaria Series and track the development of flavour the whisky experiences...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Fresh coffee, chocolate truffles, mint and stewed fruits.

Palate Tangy orange tempered by treacle and tomato stem. Slightly oily.

comment to answer to comment below -Why???
Regarding the following two bottlings, will the price drop if the limitation keeps the same and the ABV will be reduced because of the Angel's share?

Answer to Why???
Because it's been in first fill casks only, it's a higher ABV than a usual strength bottle & it's a limited run of 150 bottles.
Being a first fill cask produce bottle it could be better than most run of the mill 21 yr olds.
You only live once :)
