A 1996 vintage single malt Scotch whisky from the gorgeous Glentuachers distillery. This was independently bottled at 47.5% ABV in July 2017 by Samaroli, with an outturn of 258 bottles.
It's beautifully presented, and sports a mysterious bird on the bottle that stares right at you, almost asking: "why haven't you bought this Glentauchers distilled, Samaroli bottled offering yet?"
It has a point, to be fair.
Red apple and fern with some forest floor character, sweet malt and soft wood spice.
Clean nutty oak, honeycomb and oodles of creamy vanilla arrive first on a subtly earthy delivery, with sprinkles of brown sugar and cinnamon.
Full-bodied barley and honey'd cereals remain in a beautifully full and long finish.
